About Nigeria Polytechnics (Brief History)
Polytechnics in Nigeria started in the pre-independent Nigeria era when the training of technical personnel was done mainly by companies and organizations. The Nigeria government then saw a need in 1952 to set up polytechnic institutions when it first established the Yaba Higher College of Nigerian of Arts, Science, and Technology, this college also had branches in Enugu, Ibadan, and Zaria (eastern, western, and northern part of Nigeria).
Nigeria Polytechnics are managed by the Federal Ministry of Education through the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) which controls the polytechnics.
