If you are among the candidates who sat for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination dating from 1999 till date, you don’t have to worry about your missing, misplaced, or damaged Certificate, as the West African Examination Council (WAEC) has launched a digital platform which can be used to retrieve your Original WAEC Certificate without stress or visiting the WAEC office (physical building).

What Does This Imply?
It simply means that candidates who has sat for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination starting from the year 1999 up till date, do not need to bother of stamping or manual/physical verification of the certificate.
That is to say, if you do not have the hard copy of the original certificate, it can be seen or verified by an individual, organization, or institution through the WAEC Digital Certificate Platform.
Why the Suspension of WAEC Certificate Manual Verification
According to a statement from the council, the manual method of verifying candidates’ Certificates was suspended due to the innovation of the WAEC Digital Certificate Platform which was created for an easier and quicker means of providing stakeholders with their candidates’ WAEC certificates.
What Difference Does the WAEC Digital Platform Make?
It helps in verifying candidates’ original certificates online. Before now you check your result online using the WAEC Result Checker, but there hasn’t been any platform for seeing or verifying candidates’ WAEC Certificates in a Digital format.
But with this WAEC Digital Certificate Platform, candidates who sat for the exam dating from 1999 till date who has misplaced, or whose original WAEC certificate has been damaged can now have their original WAEC Certificate verified through this Digital Platform.
Furthermore, these candidates could also have their WAEC certificate verified by individuals, organizations/institutions.
For instance, candidates seeking admission into higher institutions or seeking for employment in any institution or organization can have their results verified online because the West African Examination Council (WAEC) had also made this WAEC Digital Certificate Platform accessible for any interested institution/organization.

The council also stated that steps were being taken to expand the Digital Platform to accommodate candidates from 1980 and the general public would be notified of updates when they are available.

According to the West African Examination Council, it stated that the certificates accessed and shared through the WAEC digital platform are authentic and gotten directly from the WAEC database.
